Partnering with the Government of Karnataka, StartUp AsiaBerlin on behalf of the Berlin Senate for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises announced the launch of a Market Access Programme for German Smart City and Industry 4.0 startups in India. The first cohort of German startups will explore the Indian market from 13th November to 3rdDecember 2019. The aim of the programme is to forge lasting German-Indian business relationships, and to support German startups in achieving international growth.

Ramona Pop, Berlin Senator for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises, welcomes the new initiative: “In order to tackle the challenges of the 21st century, we need innovators who think outside the box. Therefore, we are happy to support the exchange between German and Indian startups in the framework of the soft-landing program.”

The Market Access Programme is targeted at tech startups with market-ready products and existing revenue streams. Potential participants are expected to demonstrate their ability to generate sustainable growth and foster lasting relationships.

In the pilot of the Market Access Programme, the founders of German startups are invited to deep dive into Bangalore’s ecosystem for three weeks. Attending Bengaluru Tech Summit will offer the German participants unique opportunities to explore the Indian startup scene.

“India provides 20% of the world’s workforce. That presents huge potentials and opportunities for solving the challenges of Industry 4.0. How can workforces be trained to handle the pressure of high performance? How can critical thinking and innovation be encouraged? Those are just a few of the issues we plan to tackle with Hardskills in India,” says Shoba Purushothaman, Co-Founder of Hardskills.

Martin W. Kolodziejczyk, Managing Director of GreentecAQUA adds, “India and Germany always had a great affinity for trade and business exchange. The soft-landing program will be an easy gateway to introduce, implement and execute our solution towards the water crisis situation prevalent in most parts of India.‘

The programme is free to take part, and will be customised for each startup, focusing on its unique needs.
