Amidst the uncertainties across the world, we are happy to announce new beginnings and new ways of communication: a new name, a hybrid offline-online format, and new dates for AsiaBerlin Summit 2020.

In a step to consolidate all the Asia-related startup initiatives by the Berlin Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Public Enterprises (Berlin Senate) into a collective platform – the Asia-Pacific Week Berlin has been renamed to AsiaBerlin Summit.  With all other Asia-related startup activities under the umbrella of AsiaBerlin – Connecting Startup Ecosystems: StartUp AsiaBerlin (SUAB) delegation trips and events become AsiaBerlin delegation trips and events, and SUAB Ambassadors are now AsiaBerlin Ambassadors. You will hear from us every month about all the AsiaBerlin activities as the APW Newsletter is now AsiaBerlin News.

Rainer Seider, responsible for the AsiaBerlin initiatives in the Berlin Senate says, “With this restructuring, the collective efforts of our initiatives to connect startup ecosystems across Asia and Berlin will get stronger than ever, thanks to our partners in the APFB and the Ambassadors. We are in the process of rebranding including the introduction of a new website.”

Due to the growing concerns around the COVID-19 outbreak across the globe, we have rescheduled the AsiaBerlin Summit 2020 to ensure the health and well being of our staff, strategic partners, speakers, and attendees. It will take place from 21 to 27 September in a hybrid format with an online and offline presence. We are fortunate that we can keep the locations as planned for June: DIHK, Spielfeld, and SAP Data Space. With an online-offline hybrid format, we want to maintain the Summit as a central event for personal and direct contacts to facilitate cooperation in a familiar context. At the same time, we can reach a much broader audience, especially in Asia able to follow and participate in plenary and workshop sessions. So we can make a virtue of the actual necessity and adapt the learnings of online formats for our future events. We will start online registrations for the AsiaBerlin Summit in July 2020. Last year, the Summit had over 230 speakers from across Asia and Berlin with 2,000 attendees from over 11 countries. This year, the hybrid-format gives the opportunity to reach a wider audience and have our friends from all over the world join us.
AsiaBerlin: a collective platform connecting startup ecosystems in Asia and Berlin

Since 1997, the AsiaBerlin Summit (formerly Asia-Pacific Week) has been offering a unique European platform for interdisciplinary European-Asian dialogue in the fields of politics, business, science, research and culture on globally relevant topics. Over the years, as we expanded into running various partner projects focused on connecting startup ecosystems, the restructuring offers a platform that relates to the close-knit startup communities across Asia and Berlin.

The AsiaBerlin Summit is the annual summit of year-long AsiaBerlin activities connecting Berlin startups with significant ecosystems and markets in Asia aided by relevant contacts and structured networks. The Summit deals with subjects such as smart cities/ urban tech, health, finance, industry 4.0, digitalization,  innovation, internationalization, AI, blockchain in the form of conferences, workshops, and expert tours. Find information on all AsiaBerlin initiatives and partner projects of AsiaBerlin by clicking here.
