Register now and get your tickets for AsiaBerlin Summit 2020 (21-27 September) to find out.

The AsiaBerlin Summit offers a platform to establish an international startup ecosystem between Berlin and Asia. We focus on the internationalization of startups across sectors such as UrbanTech, HealthTech, FinTech, Social Impact, industry 4.0, AI, or blockchain. Here is a look at some panels on Day 1 that focus on the internationalization of startups and stories by successful global startup founders.

Panel: Internationalization and Expansion done right

Everyone feels most comfortable in their home turf because this is where we speak the language and know the mentality of the people. This is a great space to start out in, but at some point, one can also feel like the shark in a fish tank and needs to swim in a bigger ocean. This chat looks at the steps to take and questions to ask when wanting to internationalize one’s business and expand across borders.

Keynote: Accelerators & Incubators: hype or real innovation?

Tony Verb (Founder, GreaterBay Ventures)

For a startup founder, the question is whether to join one. Is it a waste of time? Is it going to distract from the real business? For an enterprise, the dilemma is similar: is the money, time, organizational bandwidth worth the investment? Will startups truly solve their problems? As incubators and accelerators have grown to become an industry, beyond what they used to be: a process and a tool, we will look behind the curtain and honestly assess some questions that bug many of us.

Panel: Joint effort: Accelerators and Startups

Every large company is looking to innovate from the inside out: accelerators, incubators, and other startup programs have mushroomed all over. Corporates are trying to tie in new developments that startups can ideate and test at a much quicker pace than a huge, cumbersome enterprise with 1000s of employees in multiple locations all over the world. But are these collaborations really good for startups? And do the different programs in turn also have successes and great collaborations with various startups? In this panel, we talk about the various types of programs on offer (from corporate programs to privately initiated ones to those for specific topics only or those bound to a certain time frame) and which pitfalls to avoid in order to make the collaboration a success for both sides.

Closing keynote: Being an Entrepreneur

Naren Shaam
