Mr Laurence Bay Siow Hon is currently Singapore’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany. Born in 1971, Mr Bay graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History, First Class Honours from the National University of Singapore in 1996. He obtained a Masters in International Policy Studies from Stanford University in 2004. Mr Bay joined the Ministry in July 1996 and served as Country Officer for Brunei and Indonesia in the Southeast Asia Directorate. From June 1999 to August 2003, he served as First Secretary in the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta. Upon his return to the Ministry, he was appointed Deputy Director (Other Southeast Asia) from April to June 2005 and Deputy Director (Indonesia) from April 2005 to July 2007. After completing his tenure as Deputy Chief of Mission and Minister-Counsellor at the Singapore Embassy in Tokyo from December 2008 to August 2012, Mr Bay served as Director-General of the South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa Directorate from October 2012 to October 2014 and Director-General of the Consular Directorate from October 2014 to May 2016 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He assumed his current position as Singapore’s Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany in September 2016. Mr Bay was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze) in 2007 and Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2018.
We want to deepen our focus on the Berlin and Asia startup ecosystems and hence we are initiating community partnerships with ecosystem players in both regions. The idea is to support each other for cross-promotion on various communication channels and generally establish a relationship for long term collaboration so our existing AsiaBerlin community can be of help to our community partners in Asia as well.
