Achim Oelgarth has been working in the financial industry and advises tech startups for over 20 years now. He is the CEO of the East German Banking Association and he lately initiated the Berlin Finance Initiative (BFI) on its way to become the voice of Berlin’s hub for technology based finance and digital economy. Previously, as UniCredit‘s Head of Institutional Affairs Germany, he was responsible for the political and regulatory affairs team of the pan-European bank. Before that, from 2004 to 2009, he established and led the representative office of the Association of German Banks at the European Union in Brussels. Achim studied law at the University of Bonn. In 1998 he was admitted to the bar. At MIT Sloan School of Management he has been doing research on artificial intelligence and its implications on business strategy.
We want to deepen our focus on the Berlin and Asia startup ecosystems and hence we are initiating community partnerships with ecosystem players in both regions. The idea is to support each other for cross-promotion on various communication channels and generally establish a relationship for long term collaboration so our existing AsiaBerlin community can be of help to our community partners in Asia as well.
