Why Japan?
Japan is one of the largest economies in the world, third only to the US and China. Despite having the oldest population globally, 92,8% of Japanese use the internet, way more than Americans (74,77%).
Japan took the concept of Industry 4.0 and transformed into Society 5.0. The country aims to become the most connected and data-driven providing customized solutions through the adoption of AI, robotics, big data, and drones – as well as through policy and regulatory reform. Partnering with the private sector, Ministry of Economy, Trade is developing a system in which Big Data can be traded securely and effectively. And to enable development of new services, The National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science had set up a cloud-based access to the fastest supercomputer which allows SMEs to crunch large amounts of data for deep learning and AI.
As a part of this delegation trip, you will be attending the City Tech Tokyo Conference and getting a deep dive into Kobe City Startup Ecosystem. The delegation is organized in partnership with ExplorAsia. The ExplorAsia project supports Berlin-based startups & SMEs working in the Advanced Materials space to explore internationalization opportunities in Asia. It is a flagship initiative of INAM – the Innovation Network for Advanced Materials, based in Berlin.
